Step-by-Step Guide to SSC Sub Inspector Recruitment 2023
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released a notification to fill 1876 Sub Inspector (SI) vacancies in the Delhi Police Department and Central Armed Forces including BSF, CRPF, SSB, and CISF.
Eligibility for the posts includes a degree
qualification and applicants will need to pass several stages, including an
online exam, a physical fitness test (PST), a physical efficiency test (PET),
and a medical exam.
Successful candidates can expect a starting salary of
approximately Rs. 60,000 per month. However, the possibility of working in
one's home state is low.
Exam Details:
The online exam will consist of two papers:
Paper-1: This will have four sections (General
Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness,
Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension), each with 50 questions. Total
marks: 200. Duration: 2 hours.
Paper-2: This will test English Language and
Comprehension, with 200 questions. Total marks: 200. Duration: 2 hours.
A negative marking system will be applied, with a
deduction of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer.
Physical Test Details:
In the PET, men should cover 100 meters in 16 seconds and
women in 18 seconds. Men must complete a 1.6 km run in 6.5 minutes and women an
800-meter run in 4 minutes. Men must also accomplish a long jump of 3.65 meters
and a high jump of 1.2 meters, both in three attempts. Women should clear 2.7
meters for the long jump and 0.9 meters for the high jump, also in three
attempts. Men must also throw a 16 lbs shot put at least 4.5 meters in three
attempts.
Vacancies:
A total of 1876 vacancies are available, with 1714 in
CAPFs and 162 in Delhi Police.
Eligibility:
Applicants should possess any degree and must be below 25
years as of August 1, 2023. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved
categories.
Physical Standards:
The required height is 170 cm for men and 157 cm for
women, with certain relaxations for ST candidates.
Application Process:
Online applications are accepted until August 15, with
exam fees applicable except for women and reserved categories. The
computer-based exams will be conducted in October.
Preparation Tips:
Begin by thoroughly reading the syllabus and old question
papers. Give special attention to topics with more questions. Write at least 10
sample tests before the exam and adjust your preparation based on the results.
Remember, there are section-wise cutoffs, so aim to secure minimum marks in
each section. For success in current affairs, take notes on important
developments from January 2023 onwards.
